More Ways to Give

There is more than one way to invest in the causes you care about. Learn about more giving options through the menu below.

Corporations and Foundations

Strong partnerships are essential to Western’s ability to educate, support and encourage leaders who think and act boldly in response to the grand challenges of our time – to serve the public good. We are eager to build upon our impressive track record as leaders in research, scholarship and creative activity.

If your company or foundation is looking to partner with the university’s faculty and students, we can help. There are a variety of corporate philanthropic and sponsorship opportunities available.

Endowed Giving

When you make an endowed gift, now or through your will, you provide Western with a reliable source of funding in perpetuity.

How does it work? The principal amount of your donation is invested and the annual income from the endowed gift is used to fulfill the fund’s purpose such as providing financial aid to students, funding important research or establishing an academic Chair.

In recognition of your generosity, a new endowed fund may be named for you or in honour or memory of someone special. You can also choose to contribute to an existing endowed fund.

For more information on Western’s investment management and performance, read our latest endowment reports.

Foundation Western

Foundation Western has integrated its endowments with those of Western University to reduce overall costs and increase investment opportunity. Unifying the management of these endowments best served the interests of the university and its stakeholders.

Gifts in Kind

Gifts in kind (or non-cash gifts) – such as real estate, rare books, art, special collections or other tangible personal property – are an important asset to the university. They help to provide valuable educational resources for our students and faculty.

A donation receipt will be issued for the fair market value of the gift in kind on the date its ownership is transferred to Western. Depending on your wishes and the nature of the donated item, the university may retain the gift or sell it and use the proceeds to support Western’s mission.

Matching Giving

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. Some companies also match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.

If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, complete it, sign it and send it with your gift. We will do the rest.

Matching Gift data provided exclusively under these Terms of Use by HEPdata.

For more information, contact Annual Giving at 519-661-4200 or 1-800-423-9631 (toll free) or giving@uwo.ca.

Payroll Deduction

If you are a current Western employee, payroll deduction is a convenient way to support the causes on campus that matter most to you. To get started, simply complete the payroll deduction form.

Your gift will automatically be deducted from your pay and your annual contribution will be noted on your T4 for tax purposes.
