Long affiliation with program prompts generous gift

by Karmen Dowling | December 22, 2010

The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry's vascular surgery program has received a $250,000 donation from William Blair.

Blair ran a very successful medical devices distribution business in Toronto for more than 30 years and it was through this work he became keenly interested in vascular surgery. His affiliation with the program at Western was gained through his relationship with former and current Chiefs of Vasular Surgery - Dr. Ken Harris and Dr. Tom Forbes.

In 2000, Blair committed $105,000 to the Vascular Surgery program and says he is so pleased with the advancement in research and education taking place that he decided to make a second investment.
