Giving the best to every student
Amit Chakma, president & vice-chancellor of Western University: "At Western, every son and daughter who comes to our campus is part of the family. Our goal is to give every one of them the resources to grow intellectually and to succeed personally."

As a parent, I know what it means to want the best for our children. For my son who attends Western, I hope he takes advantage of every opportunity to learn from great professors, serve in student leadership and volunteer on community projects.

These kinds of experiences will broaden his perspective and enrich his understanding of what he can achieve. I am confident you share the same desires for your child.

At Western, every son and daughter who comes to our campus is part of the family. Our goal is to give every one of them the resources to grow intellectually and to succeed personally. Western strives to give the best to every student – from teaching study techniques to offering community volunteer opportunities, from providing excellent health services to granting bursaries to students in need.

In this edition of Western’s Parent Connection, you will discover how students are achieving the extraordinary. One student is building a library for a remote community in Tanzania while another is jumping her way to athletic success. You will read about student award recipients, one who hopes to teach music and another who plans to pursue a career where he can get people moving again.

All of these students credit The Western Experience as part of their success. Though they may have encountered challenges and obstacles, they stepped out in confidence and received more than expected at Western.

I am proud of our students at Western.
And I am grateful for every parent who entrusts their child’s education to us.

Our faculty and staff are dedicated to ensuring Western provides the best educational opportunities for every student so they are well prepared to become the kind of exceptional leaders our community and world needs.

Sincerely,

Amit Chakma
President & Vice-Chancellor
