Alumna supports Engineering's "green building"

by Krista Habermehl | January 30, 2008

Nan Shuttleworth (BA ’65), a member of Western’s Board of Governor’s Development and Fundraising Committee, supported the Faculty of Engineering with a generous gift of $150,000.

Her gift is being directed to the Claudette McKay-Lassonde Pavilion, Western’s $22-million, 45,000-square-foot “Green Building” dedicated to environmental research at Western’s Faculty of Engineering. Specifically, the gift will support Professor Dr. Denis O’Carroll’s Groundwater Remediation Laboratory, to be located on the third floor of the new building. Construction of the pavilion is slated to begin this winter with a completion date set for summer 2009.

Shuttleworth is President of the Salamander Foundation, which has previously supported Western through the Salamander Chair in Environmental Engineering.
