It all comes back to our students

It all comes back to our students

I’m proud to lead a university that aspires to be a destination of choice for the world’s brightest minds seeking the best learning experience at a leading Canadian research university.

What does Western do to pursue this ambitious goal?

We provide our students with the means to achieve their dreams – be it scholarships, bursaries and awards to alleviate financial pressure, funding for our student-athletes so they can compete at the highest levels, life-changing international and experiential learning opportunities, research funding, or provisions for updating infrastructure, equipment and materials.

All of these resources combine to give our students the experience of a lifetime. And we are only able to make this a reality through the generosity of our donors.

When you read the stories in this issue of Impact Western, you will see that by giving to Western, you are directly supporting our students and their academic achievements.

Take master’s student Jennifer Au and doctoral candidate Lindsay Oliver, for example. Both received scholarships funded by the Foundation of the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex in support of their research efforts to improve the lives of those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. The recognition has made them more dedicated and more motivated than ever to make a difference.

Or Moon Lee, Neil Tai-Pow, BSc’15, and Malcolm Nation, the three current recipients of the London Life Actuarial Career Scholarships. They received the financial support and real-world, practical experience to give them a leg-up in their future careers.

Thank you for your support and for enabling our students to change the world.
