Western University Be Extraordinary The Campaign For Western

You asked, we answered.

How is the allocation for expenditure determined?

The allocation for expenditure is determined by calculating 4.0 per cent of the capital balances averaged over the five most recent years. For all endowment funds previously managed by Foundation Western, the calculation assumes the ending capital balance at April 30, 2015 is year two.

When will my endowment receive its first allocation for expenditure?

As a result of policy changes (MAPP 2.11), all endowments created on or after May 1, 2014 will receive an allocation for expenditure on the first May 1 following creation. This is an improvement over the previous policy which required new endowments be held for a full fiscal year (May 1 to April 30) before an allocation was made.

Why doesn’t my fund report show a 2014/2015 allocation for expenditure?

All endowment funds previously managed by Foundation Western received a 2014/2015 allocation for expenditure at the end of fiscal 2014. As such, no additional allocation was made in fiscal 2015.

How do I make an additional contribution to my endowment?

You can make an additional contribution to your endowment by contacting your faculty development professional or Kathryn McAuley at kathryn.mcauley@uwo.ca or 519-661-2111 x88817.
