Michael Hyatt, BSc’96, seizes opportunities. When others fled the tech sector, he built two of Canada’s fastest growing high-tech firms. Today, as Executive Chairman of BlueCat Networks and a business commentator on the CBC, he sits at the forefront of information technology and business. And his entrepreneurial drive was fuelled at Western.
Michael Hyatt is the Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of BlueCat Networks and a recipient of one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40™ awards. He graduated from Western University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Founded by Mr. Hyatt and his brother Richard, BlueCat is a four-time winner of “Deloitte’s Fast 50”, has received Gartner’s highest “Strong Positive” rating and was named one of CIX's Canada's Hottest Innovative Companies.
Michael also co-founded Dyadem International Ltd while he was a student at Western. Dyadem went on to become a highly successful software company and was acquired by IHS (NYSE: IHS).
Michael is also a weekly business commentator on CBC Newsworld and has been featured on the cover of Canadian Business Magazine. He is also a finalist in Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award and an active participant and lender for a number of charities.
