Michael Hyatt, BSc’96, seizes opportunities. When others fled the tech sector, he built two of Canada’s fastest growing high-tech firms. Today, as Co-founder of BlueCat Networks and a business panelist on the CBC, he sits at the forefront of information technology and business. And his entrepreneurial drive was fuelled at Western.
Michael Hyatt is the Director and Co-Founder of BlueCat Networks and a recipient of one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40™ awards. He graduated from Western University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Founded by Mr. Hyatt and his brother Richard, BlueCat is a four-time winner of “Deloitte’s Fast 50”, has received Gartner’s highest “Strong Positive” rating and was named one of CIX's Canada's Hottest Innovative Companies.
Michael also co-founded Dyadem International Ltd while he was a student at Western. Dyadem went on to become a highly successful software company and was acquired by IHS (NYSE: IHS).
Michael is also a weekly business commentator on CBC Newsworld and has been featured on the cover of Canadian Business Magazine. He is also a finalist in Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award and an active participant and lender for a number of charities.
