Mission Hills, with properties in the heart of the Pearl River Delta and the tropical island of Hainan, is the pioneer and major driving force behind China’s fledgling sports, hospitality and leisure industry. Its holdings include 24 championship courses, five-star resorts, award-winning spas and volcanic mineral springs, an international convention centre, golf academies, and Asia’s largest tennis facility. Mission Hills has been accredited the "World’s Largest Golf Club" and the "World’s Largest Spa & Mineral Springs" by the Guinness World Records.
Mr. Chu’s vision in driving international goodwill through golf and popularizing the game has brought more than 100 international tournaments to China. His "golf and more" leisure philosophy has catalyzed Mission Hills Group’s tourism-related business expansion.
Under Mr. Chu's leadership, the Group has evolved from a golf conglomerate to an integrated cultural, leisure and sustainable tourism destination expanding into urban leisure and commercial developments encompassing shopping, dining, entertainment, health, wellness, meeting, business and residential offerings.
Before fast tracking through Western's Administrative and Commercial Studies program in 24 months, Mr. Chu attended Upper Canada College in Toronto, Ontario. A student leader while at Western, he was the president of the Chinese Students' Association and helped organize many social events, which helped fine-tune his planning skills as a future international trailblazer in the sports entertainment industry.
In addition to his duties with Mission Hills, Mr. Chu is also a Global Member of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), the preeminent forum for global business leaders in travel and tourism industry. He also sits on Western's International Advisory Board. In 2013, Mr. Chu was elected as National Committee Member of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
Mr. Chu has been actively involved in Hong Kong and China charity and community services. He takes particular interest in youth groups and activities, believing it is crucial to nurture future generations to create a better tomorrow for China and the world. Over the years, the Mission Hills Group programs have donated more than RMB 500 million to various charitable initiatives.
