Biography

Jordan Banks is the Global Head of Vertical Strategy and Managing Director of Facebook Canada. In his global role, Jordan leads the team responsible for identifying and developing strategies and initiatives focused on transforming businesses in Facebook’s key industry categories around the world. Jordan is also responsible for leading and managing all of Facebook’s commercial operations in Canada.

Recently named as one of Canada’s 50 Most Powerful Business People by Canadian Business Magazine as well as one of the 25 Most Influential People in Canada by Financial Post Magazine, Jordan is a well-respected leader in Canadian business.

Jordan’s previous roles include founder and managing partner at Thunder Road Capital, chief executive officer at JumpTV and managing director of eBay Canada, where he oversaw a team that grew the Canadian business to over one billion dollars in gross merchandise sales accounting for approximately 25% of all Canadian e-commerce activity.

Before joining eBay Canada, Jordan managed the Licensing and International Business group at the National Hockey League Players’ Association and, a lawyer by profession, Jordan also practiced corporate law at Goodmans LLP.

Jordan is an active and dedicated member of the community, championing numerous efforts relating to raising money and awareness for Alzheimer’s research and care. As part of this commitment, Jordan sits on the Board of Directors of The Tanz Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases and the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Research and Care.

Jordan’s other community and commercial affiliations include sitting on the Board of Directors of Cineplex Entertainment and the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation as well as the Board of Governors of the University of Waterloo.  

A strong believer in the value of mentoring, Jordan is a Charter Member of the C100, a business mentor at Extreme Startups, a special advisor to the Next 36 and a member of the Young President’s Organization. Jordan’s contributions have been recognized through numerous awards including Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 and the Hugo Boss “Leave A Mark” award celebrating men of excellence.
