Christian Lassonde, BSc’97, BESc’98, is one of Canada’s top financial technology venture capitalists, and a proven entrepreneur. He’s developed software in Silicon Valley for Fortune 500 companies, in addition to creating and selling his own software companies. Today, as founder of Impression Ventures, he invests in winning companies like Wealthsimple, Honk and Sensibill. And his sixth sense for fintech started at Western.

Biography

Christian Lassonde, BSc’97, BESc’98, is the founder and managing partner of Impression Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on investing in Seed and Series A deals in technology companies disrupting the financial services sector.

Through Impression, Christian has invested in a wide range of fintech sectors including wealth management via Wealthsimple, B2B SaaS via Sensibill, lending via Brim Financial, and insurance via Finaeo.

Previously, Christian was a tech founder, having built Millions of Us, a digital agency, and Virtual Greats, a luxury online IP rights broker.

Christian has taught high-growth technology entrepreneurship at Next Canada, a leading national entrepreneurship organization and spent a decade in San Francisco building software for Second Life, LucasArts and Electronic Arts. Selling solutions to Sony, Nike, Warner Brothers, General Motors, Coke, Intel and many more Fortune 500 companies. He currently serves on the Fintech Advisory Council for the Ontario Securities Commission, Vice-Chair of SickKids Foundation and Co-Chair of Western’s Entrepreneurship Advisory Council.
